Our Story & Team
More Than Just a Dance Studio
Founded in Medellín by Yul Amado, Santo Baile has spent over 15 years teaching private Salsa and Bachata lessons to locals and international travelers in El Poblado.
The Beginning
From Cali to Medellín: The Story of Santo Baile
Yul Amado, originally from Cali, Colombia, started Santo Baile over 15 years ago with a simple idea: dance should feel personal, welcoming and fun. Cali’s salsa culture is still part of who we are. We saw an opportunity to offer something different from large group classes: personalized private lessons where every student receives individual attention.
What started as a small project has grown into a place where travelers, expats and locals feel at home. We have created a space where you can learn at your own pace, make mistakes freely, and build genuine confidence.
- 15+ years of teaching experience
- Family-run and community-focused
- Proudly welcoming international students
A Personal Note from Yul
The Philosophy Behind Santo Baile
“Santo Baile was born from a simple certainty: dance is a way to grow as a person.
When you dance, you feel the connection between your mind and your body. You come back to the present moment, your mind settles, and your mood can shift completely. You face life with a better attitude.
We wanted to create a space for a different kind of hobby, one that connects you with yourself and with others. Because when you find that connection, dance is more than movement: it lifts your spirits and strengthens your body.”

Our instructors have different schedules and availability. If you have a preferred teacher, let us know when contacting us on WhatsApp and we’ll do our best to arrange your lesson with them.
Behind every step at Santo Baile is a deeply dedicated team. They are not just professional dancers; they are educators by vocation, passionate about pedagogy and truly committed to each student’s process.
Their purpose goes beyond teaching technique and movements with excellence: they are here to create a space where you come to enjoy, laugh, disconnect, and share unforgettable experiences. Every class is a total commitment to making you feel guided, supported, and at home.
Our Students
Come as You Are
Santo Baile is shaped by the people who walk through our door: travelers, expats and locals who share a love for dance. Several of our reviews mention feeling welcome from the very first message, and that is exactly the atmosphere we care about.
Whether you are passing through Medellín for a week or living here permanently, our doors are open. Come as you are, learn at your own pace, and let’s share the joy of dancing. From time to time, when the schedule allows, we also invite students to a social dance outing in Medellín: a relaxed extra, not part of the lessons.
